Tracy McGrady perhaps shouldn’t be playing for the Rockets this year. Vinny Del Negro probably shouldn’t be a NBA coach. Mark Cuban shouldn’t be getting slammed through tables in the WWE (or maybe he should). CNN’s Wolf Blitzer shouldn’t be tweeting Wizards games.

Plus, we read some listeners’ emails, including suggested nicknames for Dave. And of course, Players of the Week.

We discover that Barker doesn’t read books. Ex-ref Tim Donaghy’s books is published. Bryon RUssell challenges Michael Jordan to a game of one-on-one. Aaron tries out phrases to describe putting the basketball in the basket. And we have Players of the Week.

Or perhaps it’s more about the awful Clippers defense. Ricky Davis, seriously, what are you doing out there? Commit to something!

This kind of explains the Rockets in my mind at least. They may not be the most physically gift, or the tallest, or the most touted. But they work hard and they work smart. They are patient, they don’t bow under pressure.

And although they are currently ranked at the eight spot in the West, they’ll be dangerous come playoff time. Remember, this is essentially the team that took the Lakers to seven games, which was farther than the Magic were able to go in the Finals. And that was without Yao to defend the twin towers of Gasol and Bynum.

It will be interesting to see what the Rockets do with Tracy McGrady, who wants to return to the team. They can certainly use his scoring, but it’s not as simple as that. I’ll leave it at that for now as we’ll be talking about it on the next podcast!

Allen Iverson informed the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday morning that he will accept their one-year, non-guaranteed offer.

The contract is for a pro-rated veteran’s minimum of $1.3 million.

“In light of the recent injury to Lou Williams, which will sideline him for close to eight weeks, we felt that Allen was the best available free agent guard to help us at this time,” team president Ed Stefanski said.

Probably be a jump in ticket sales tonight, eh? If I was free, I’d be amongst them.
